Colorsteel Systems Corporation was founded on December 16, 1994 as a trading company of prepainted longspan steel roofing and roof engineering services. It started its commercial operations in January 1995 with its base located in Makati City. To compensate its very limited financial resources, the founders used their expertise and skills in the roofing industry to hire, train, and develop young professionals into competent sales and installation engineers equipped with knowledge and skills as potent weapons to stay at par or better with the competition. In anticipation of the vast growth in Central Luzon, Colorsteel established its first sales branch in San Fernando Pampanga on June 19, 1995. In March 1996, the corporation entered into a joint venture with a group of Filipino-Chinese businessmen and founded Philcolors Steel Forming Corporation. Colorsteel then became its no. 1 dealer in Luzon in terms of volume. The exceptional growth of the organization was however slowed down by the Asian economic crisis in 1997 to 1998. Colorsteel regained its momentum in 1999 when the construction industry showed signs of relief and recovery. To build a reputable presence in Northern Luzon, it established a sales branch in San Fernando La Union. It was also in the same period where Colorsteel severed its ties with Philcolors due to differences in management style and direction to take.
